Self-Care practices to try while the spotlight is on Racial Inequality and Systemic Racism!

Written by: Kiara Armstrong (Founder of community.tm)

Hello everyone! I send you my most purest light and my most purest love! YOU ARE GREAT. Being a young spiritual Black woman in this world is trying at times. Where we live in a world of division, systemic racism and racial inequality. You might have known that I am an activist and I stand up for animal rights, earth and human rights. As of recently, my mind has indulged in a lot of disheartening truths and my self-protection has elevated due to these spotlighted unruly human actions. SELF-CARE PRACTICE NUMBER 1: Be aware that you can show emotion! You can really help yourself by showing emotion and letting it out. Part of being human is showing transparency and emotions! Waterfalls are similar to our tears and waterfalls are powerful and beautiful (aren't they?) This video helped me to cry (it's about a baby calf & baby piglet that were destined to be killed but were saved by caring humans and now get to live their life free of human harm)

SELF-CARE PRACTICE NUMBER 2: The BLM movement is moving everywhere through media sources and even large companies are speaking out. If your indulding too much and it's having a toll on you, step away for a few hours or even a day. Regather yourself when you are ready. Remember that social media is not the same as being physically in the action. As an activist, I can say that there is a lot of good moments happening within the protest that are not on the media. ( Don't feel pressured to attend a protest if you are mentality, physically or emotionally unable too. There are petitions, Black owned businesses to support and the action of changing hearts for the better. (Petitions linked below, Google Black owned businesses for what you are looking for) This artist will be donating to the BLM movement with the money gained from his new song! lilbaby_1 Verified

SELF-CARE PRACTICE NUMBER 3: Watch movies that shed light on what Black people have endured and overcome throughout centuries, decades and years. I've watched on Netflix - They Gotta Have Us! It focuses on Black Actors, Black Actresses, Black Filmmakers, Black Directors, Black Producers, Black Musicians speaking on their experiences in the film industry and the growth of it! They show a lot of other movies and tell their powerful, amazing stories!

SELF-CARE PRACTICE NUMBER 4:

Pamper yourself!! Go to your favourite nature spot, Think of your favourite nature spot, feel the calm waters! Get active! Rest longer! Stare into space! Play your favourite music! Discover new music! Speak your peace! I'm sending my light to you always.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Canada - To the protestors in America - may my protection be around you and may you know that the courage you have on demanding systemic change will reap benefits for future generations and they will be so thankful you were active. Canada we have work to do also! PETITIONS & more: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co Enjoy the day everyone! Much Appreciation! Thank you! Stay safe! Kiara Armstrong (Founder of community.tm)
